Nifuji introduced a paper entitled “Genome surveillance by HUSH-mediated silencing of intronless mobile elements(Nature Vol601.2022 440-)”, which showed that the human silencing hub (HUSH) transcriptionally repressed a broad range of long, intronless transgenes and intron insertion into HUSH-repressed transgenes counteracts repression, even in the absence of intron splicing.
